The sheet metal industry is one of the most varied and diverse of all the skilled trades, and demand for workers keeps growing. In fact, employment is expected to grow 9 percent by 2026!

WHAT DO SHEET METAL WORKERS DO?

These skilled craftsmen and women create, install and repair sheet metal systems for commercial and residential projects. They use sheet metal on heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) ducts, roofs, siding, gutters and more. They specialize in cutting, bending, welding, bolting, riveting and soldering pieces together to deliver custom products for all applications.

In addition to working extensively with HVAC systems, sheet metal workers are artists who manipulate steel, aluminum, copper and more to create beautiful decorative designs on public buildings. They perform architectural sheet metal work for newly constructed or remodeled homes. And they test, balance and troubleshoot energy-efficient mechanical systems that keep our indoor air properly ventilated and free from pollutants.
